Which codes can Codedas show? QR, Code 128, Code 39 and EAN-13. Codedas does not store a picture of the code — it draws the code from the value every time you show it.

I scanned a card and it said the code cannot be drawn again. The camera reads more kinds than the app can draw, such as PDF417, Aztec, DataMatrix and Micro QR. Codedas shows you the value it read, but it cannot put that card on screen. Keep using the card itself, or add the shop's official app as an entry.

My card's code changes every time. Can I save it? No, and no app can — a code that is issued on the spot is only valid for that moment. Add the card as an entry that opens its official app, and it sits in the same list next to your saved codes.

The app I want to open isn't in the list. Codedas only lists apps whose URL scheme it can point to a source for. For anything else, enter the URL scheme yourself (paypay or paypay://), or use a shortcut.

How do shortcuts work? When an app publishes no URL scheme, make one shortcut in the Shortcuts app that opens it, name it, and type that name into Codedas. The name has to match exactly, so copy and paste it. Naming it something like Codedas: PayPay keeps it apart from your other shortcuts. Codedas also has ready-made shortcuts you can add with one tap.

Why does the screen turn white and go bright? A white background at full brightness is what scanners read best, and Codedas keeps the screen awake while a code is up. Your brightness goes back to what it was when you close the code.

Nothing shows on my Lock Screen. Opening the app puts your top three favorites there, and they clear after twelve hours. If they don't appear, check that Show favorites is on under Lock Screen in Codedas settings, and that Live Activities are on in iOS Settings. The settings screen tells you which of the two is stopping it.

Can I get to a card from the Home Screen? Press and hold the Codedas icon. Your top four favorites are there.

What do I get with Codedas Pro? Three things: your codes on Apple Watch, places (a card you use at a shop moves to the top of the list when you are nearby, with a notification when you arrive), and iCloud sync. Saving codes and showing them at the register stays free, and so do scanning, the Lock Screen and backup.

Is Codedas Pro a subscription? No. It is a one-time purchase, with nothing monthly. There are no ads either.

I bought Pro but a new iPhone doesn't have it. Open Settings in Codedas and tap Restore purchase. Use the same Apple Account you bought it with.

My codes aren't reaching my Apple Watch. Check all three: you have Codedas Pro, Sync codes is on under Apple Watch in settings, and Codedas is installed on the watch. Entries that only open an app or run a shortcut are not sent, because there is no code to show.

I don't get a notification when I arrive at a shop. Arrival notices need location set to Always, which iOS only lets you choose in its own Settings — Settings, then Codedas, then Location. Notifications have to be allowed as well. Also note that iOS watches a limited number of places at once, so Codedas watches the ones nearest to you.

My other iPhone or iPad doesn't have the same cards. iCloud sync comes with Codedas Pro, and both devices need to be signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud on. The settings screen says what iCloud is doing, including how many cards it holds and how many are still to send.

How do I move to a new iPhone? A new iPhone restored from your device backup brings your cards with it, and iCloud sync brings them back if you have Pro. You can also export everything as a JSON file from Settings and read it back later. Restoring from a file replaces what is on the device, so it is a copy for when a card is deleted by mistake rather than a merge.

I deleted a card by mistake. Deleting cannot be undone, and adding it again needs the physical card. If you have a JSON backup or another device with iCloud sync, restore from there.

Where is my data kept? On your device. With Pro, it also goes to your own private iCloud storage. Nothing is sent to a server of ours — we don't have one. See the privacy policy for the details.

What does Codedas need? iPhone with iOS 18 or later. The watch app needs watchOS 10 or later.
